How to treat diaper rash?

When my baby was discharged from being confined in the nursery care for three days from the day of his birth, we found him very irritable. We found out that he had a diaper rash, not just reddened his groin but also wounds were formed on his scrotum and anus. It really made me cry watching him in pain and uncomfortable because of  his diaper rash. We could not also brought him into the doctor for check up because it was rainy season. What we did was ; when we took him a bath and every time we cleaned up his genitals from feces,  we soak the cotton balls into the liquid which was boiled with guava leave.  Wipe it carefully on his rashes let it dry and  put Petroleum Jelly particularly those parts which were reddened then put calmoseptine ointment on the wounded part. We also made sure that the genitals were free from wet.
We also used cloth diapers instead of  disposable diapers until the wounds were healed.

When the wounds were already healed we used disposable diapers but we put a thin gauze or cloth  diapers (that did I cut from being too wide) on the disposable diapers. We only used this during night time and change his diapers twice or as often as possible, most likely if  it has feces because it was one of the main causes of rashes.

Days have passed and we have seen that his rashes simultaneously was healed that gave him comfort. It was my wake up call to make sure that my baby would not suffer from rashes again. I could not bear watching him with those kind of rashes. Never again!
