How to stop babies from crying?

I am a first time mom and when I delivered my baby boy, he was confined in the nursery care for three days. When the doctor said that my baby could go out of the hospital, we were very happy and excited to bring him in the house. The challenge of becoming a mother and father was during the first night with our baby. Me and my husband were sleepless because our baby kept on crying. Good that my mother was in our house and she taught us some tips about stopping him from crying and from all the information I got from my doctor. I came up with a step by step procedure of  stopping my baby from crying. Here are my steps and hope it will also be helpful to you.

Baby: crying...

Mother: Cuddle sing and dance. Remember to also do check if  the place is not too hot or too cold for him.
Baby: still crying...
Mother: Check if he is wet from peeing or poo,if yes; then change the diapers or underwear.
               Check also if he has diaper rash, if yes; then you need to medicate it . How to avoid and treat babies diaper rash?
Baby: still crying...crying
Mother: Feed him.
Baby : still crying, crying...

Mother: If you are breastfeeding, check if you have enough breast milk. How would you know if you have enough breast milk?
