I was amazed at 19months my son can now recognize and speak almost of the letters ABC.
How did I introduced ABC to my son:
1. At 10 months old, I post the letter cards on the wall at our bedroom.
2. Sing ABC as a lullaby. I used to cuddle him to fall asleep during those times, I sing ABC song as a lullaby.
3. At A year Old, i used to make fun of the letters on the wall pointing into every letter and the pictures of each letter. Saying or singing like this A is for apple, B is for Ball... I make it as part of his playtime most of the time.
4. Tune in to youtube, there are alot of fun ABC songs in youtube that my son really loves to listen and watch.
5. Buy books with ABC and other figures. Just read it with him and make fun on the sounds with my facial expressions just to cath his attention. I just simply say this is "Letter A, it says A like Apple".
6. Play ask and point. Ask where is the letter? At an early stage where my son can't really speak yet, I just asked him where is the letter...? and he points it.
7.Play ask and speak out? Ask what is this? At a year and 6 months old he is already learning how to speak. I started playing "What is this?, pointing or bringing the letter to his attention." He can't really speak yet then I answer. Until time comes that he can speak it.
Doing all this, I was amazed that he can speak and recognized letters, in the books, in my shirts even in prints on the wall when we go the mall or anywhere. At less than year old they may not be able to get it right away but they do listen. I have noticed that babies are really a good listener with constant introduction, playing and making fun of the abc song you will be surprised that time will come that they can speak and reconized ABC. Have fun with ABC!
